Letter to the editor: Vote yes to pave Peak 7 neighborhood

Karen Esposito
Breckenridge

I have lived in Summit County for 31 years. One of the things I’ve learned during my years here is that Summit County does not pave neighborhoods. Local improvement districts have been formed, and the homeowners have paved Lakeview Meadows, Silver Shekel, Baldy, Summit Estates and Bekadall Neighborhood, just to name a few.  All these neighborhood paving projects have come in way below the original budget, too.

My husband and I bought our house on Peak 7 five years ago with our eyes wide open. I feel I am speaking from the experience of having lived on unpaved roads for the past 20 years. We knew when we shopped for our home in the Peak 7 neighborhood that the roads were busier and in worse shape than any of our previous neighborhoods. We knew they would need to be paved. We knew that we would be paying that bill. Just in my past five years in the Peak 7 neighborhood, I have seen an increase in potholes, dust and traffic and a huge deterioration in our road conditions.

I would like to see the roads paved before the costs go up even more. The roads at times are so bad they are barely drivable. I am going to vote yes to pave Peak 7, and I hope we can all pull together and get it done.
