Letter to the editor: We need to reject the 2% lodging tax in Keystone

Roman Kowalewicz
Keystone

I simply don’t trust you, Keystone Mayor Ken Riley.

You violated a basic rule of democracy already by not providing equal time to people with different points of views regarding Keystone’s incorporation. You said that Keystone will have enough money to run its business without any new taxation.

Your current argument for a 2% lodging tax is murky and addresses issues that aren’t within the town’s jurisdiction, like U.S. Highway 6. My personal view is simply that we should treat our guests the way we would like to be treated when we visit someone. Let us be the best affordable option for our guests and be a model of how efficiently we can run our small town as the best resort. Vote no on the 2% lodging tax ballot proposal.
