Letter to the editor: Why I’m supporting Daryl Bohall for county commissioner

I’ve know Daryl Bohall for about 15 years — more closely the last five years as I bought part of his business from him.

We overlapped for several months as he taught me about the franchise territory he was selling to me. I knew he was a hard worker, but it really put things into perspective. He hustles. He’d go back out in the evening after we finished for the day when needed. He’d take two deliveries to stores daily if needed.

Not only does he work that hard, he’s very detailed. When he taught me to order product for the part of his franchise I bought, he taught me to factor in if there was a snowstorm in the forecast or if Denver was going to be close to 95 degrees or more in the summer or for an event in town like the Frisco barbecue.

He would ask store managers about their forecasts for sales, and in his head, he would turn that into how much product he would need to order to keep shelves full.

He sat with me for several weeks after I bought part of that territory to do three orders a week to make sure I was headed on the right track. He didn’t just sell me something and say, “Good luck with that.”

These things combined are skills that should easily transfer to the public sector as a county commissioner. Hours upon hours of dedication. Looking for ways to be more efficient. Being able to see possible obstacles before they even arise. Asking those around him for their ideas and opinions to make everything run as smoothly as possible.
