Bird: The 99 percenter vs. the 1 percent

Well, election day is almost upon us and it appears the 99 percent will again vote against their interests. Republican lies, obfuscations, distortions, fear and money again rule the day.

So the Koch brothers will be able to buy more school boards, more universities like Florida State, pay less taxes and keep the “extreme court” in their pocket.

Cory Gardner says his election will get Congress to act and make some changes. He’s right. As they will control the House and Senate, they will in unison deny women equal pay, control of their bodies, privatize Medicare, repeal health care and replace it with nothing, close abortion clinics, reduce unemployment benefits, say no to an increased minimum wage and limit minority voting and soooo much more.

Yes, I am partial to Sen. Udall, a good and caring man. He saved the life of our son, who was disabled in Iraq and given three years to live with nine concussions and many other wounds. He intervened and had our guy home in 12 days. Thankfully, he has made it over three years and is living in Alaska helping veterans. He and Sen. Udall still keep in touch. I’d bet my life both ways Gardner wouldn’t have walked next door to help our boy.

So we will wind up with a governor who runs disgusting gutter ads, an Iowa senator who says she will shoot anybody who doesn’t agree with her, a governor who stole $400 million from medicare, a senator who is so proud he outsourced jobs in a state with the highest unemployment and much, much more.

Want a look at our country and states future? Just look east to Kansas and the great job Brownback is doing.

When you whine about the 1 percent, please just look in the mirror to ascertain the cause.
