Crowley: Dillon is doing town government right with ‘good neighbor policies’

The citizens of Dillon should be very happy with what is going on lately in regard to what I consider to major items in regard to business and life in general in the town .

About two weeks ago, the town and the Dillon Business Association provided access and scholarships to several members of the business community in order to attend a “boot camp” to learn about how to succeed in the business climate found in Dillon and Summit County.

Also, Dillon officials announced they would host quarterly community forums designed to be informal, provide transparency of the towns’ processes, and to hear comments and ideas from the community. What a concept!

Topping all this off, Dillon also announced last week the implementation of a Property Improvement Incentive Program for commercial building and business owners in the Dillon town core.

Of course, the administration of programs like this are dependent on the ability of the Town to define appropriate recipients who are not politically connected or are a member of a “good ol’ boys club” or want to be rewarded because they may be tenants of the public entity. It seems to me that Dillon might be free of these forces, but it sure happens elsewhere locally.

Anyway, you go Dillon! It is about time “good neighbor” policies are prevalent in our county. The pressure is now on your neighbors to follow your lead.
