Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue supports Summit County referred measure 1A (letter)

Ballot item 1A is about public safety

The Lake Dillon Fire Protection District Board of Directors encourages Summit County voters to support referred measure 1A on your 2015 election ballots. This measure would allow the county to seek grants and encourage further development of the local cell-tower system – including, most notably, potentially establishing cell coverage in the Lower Blue River valley north of Silverthorne. Lake Dillon Fire’s board considers this to be an urgent public-safety issue and has heard from residents in areas such as Sierra Bosque and Acorn Creek who are concerned that they are unable even to call 9-1-1 from their mobile phones in those areas. The measure will not raise taxes nor cost residents anything, but under State law it does authorize Summit County to pursue options with private service providers for establishing greater coverage and capacity for all residents and visitors in this under-served area of the county.
