Letter to the editor: Ally Doolin is an ally to the people of Breckenridge

Dave Duque
Breckenridge

I met Ally “For the People” Doolin on the chairlift at Breckenridge Ski Resort during the middle of the pandemic. I was immediately impressed by the young woman who was so outgoing, friendly and unafraid to live her life, despite the chaos in the world around us.

In the time I’ve known Doolin, I’ve learned so much about her. Besides being a rad skier, she is passionate about bringing people together, helping her friends and her community, and respecting our environment.

Doolin loves to bring people together, she frequently hosts “family dinner” at her home, where our friends gather to enjoy a home-cooked meal. When the pandemic made traveling to see family at the holidays a challenge, she invited me and others to her table: Our community is our family.

As a friend, Doolin cares about me personally, and she motivates me to live a healthy lifestyle. I’m a bachelor, and I eat out too much, so she encourages me to cook at home. She even bought me kitchen supplies! At Christmastime, instead of spending money on gifts we don’t need, Doolin organized our friends to adopt a family at Father Dyer.

Doolin is also a recycling guru. She has an elaborate recycling sorting station in her home. I never knew there were so many different types of plastics: Nos. 1, 2, 5, 7, etc. Doolin has shared so much with me about how we can each do our part to recycle and respect our environment.

I’m so happy I talked to a stranger on the chairlift. If I hadn’t, I wouldn’t have become friends with this amazing young woman. On April 5, please join me in voting for Doolin for Breckenridge Town Council. She believes in community. She is our ally.
