Letter to the editor: Can we tell Google not to route drivers along County Road 503?

Dee Reed
Breckenridge

What we’ve learned about Summit County Road 503: The GPS directions in equipped cars automatically default to the Wellington Road/Royal Tiger Road/High Point Drive/Moonstone Road/Shortcut Road route (the County Road 503 route, complete with speed bumps) from the town of Breckenridge instead of taking drivers up the safer Boreas Pass Road route. Why, we don’t know.

Is there a way to let Google know this is not the best route to take to access the mountainside and default to Boreas Pass Road?

Even though we have a 4Runner with beefy snow tires, we always put ‘er in first gear for the drive down 503 year-round for better control in snow/ice. And it saves on brake maintenance costs.
