Letter to the editor: I praise county officials for their efforts on Moonstone Road

Matt Krane
Breckenridge

On Moonstone Road, we are now surrounded by short-term residences whose newer owners overpaid dearly and now try to make their mortgage nut renting to clueless visitors. I feel bad for visitors who are not made aware of our tough roads/driving conditions by the lodging companies/owners because — God forbid — that might cut into the revenue stream.

I praise the county Road and Bridge Department and local law enforcement for their efforts during high danger and the Summit Board of County Commissioners for becoming more proactive. Until a better solution is found, put it in first gear so brakes are unnecessary going downhill. Going uphill? Momentum is key as are winter tires and all-wheel drive.
