Letter to the Editor: Measure your life by focusing on God, humanity

Linda Perrotti

Scholars of scripture practice God’s welcoming transparency.

With reading Clayton Christiansen‘s book, I felt compelled to share how I measure my life with ever deepening faith and measures. I took on a shift from complacency and self absorption to embracing life with what really matters: God and humanity. I found my purpose, and I establish my priorities.

These are the ways I’ve measured my life:

  • By showing gratitude to God in the universe.
  • By how pleasing my life was in the eyes of God.
  • By how my life touched others through love, hope, compassion and authenticity.
  • By my willingness to be open to God‘s plan for me – teachable.
  • By my practice of forgiveness.
  • By how many hugs I gave in a day.
  • By how I opened myself to a never-ending source of divine wisdom and infinite love.
  • By how I communicated his love everywhere I went.
  • By finding my way to grace, living life with elegance, beauty and generosity of spirit.
  • By how loving and compassionate I was to myself.
  • By bringing the gift of freedom to those I love. May they make their own choices and seek their own path to learn the lessons in their own lifetime.
  • By how I honor God, family and friends.
  • By how I have a raised my children to be responsible, to grow, to participate in life and to thrive both alone and in community. May my life help them to know God.
  • By practicing generosity, gratitude and an openness to grace.
  • By keeping my heart open and spirit alive.

I believe that when we meet our creator he will ask one question, “Did you love?”
