Letter to the editor: Realtors, business owners and developers do not represent the average resident

Dustin Wexner
Breckenridge

I am in agreement with letter writer James Manella about the lack of transparency in Breckenridge Town Council. Realtors, restaurant owners, developers and those hand-picked by the above do not represent the average resident.

It is painfully obvious that council isn’t working to preserve anything but the cash cows they hold dear. Why do half of council members vote on issues when they have a direct conflict of interest? The public outcry needs to come in the form of a clear message by voting out the current council.

And if we have success in replacing the three seats in play, I charge the newly elected members to:

  • Do your homework before the meetings.
  • Eat your meals with your microphones muted or do it at home.
  • Have a backbone. Stand up to the Vail Resorts, Breckenridge Grand Vacations, Breckenridge Tourism Office alliance that is decimating our town’s historic and charming allure.
  • Before anything else, keep your position as an elected representative pure. Listen to the people.
