Think before you decide on highway improvements

I applaud the recent letter writers who have taken the time to elucidate the pitfalls of four-laning our local roadways, e.g. Highway 9 from Frisco to Breckenridge, under the guise of “progress.”

To their shared, logical point that it is senseless to further despoil our unique and precious environs for the mere sake of convenience, I would like to add a personal note.

Unlike many of those who support the four-laning of Hwy. 9, I happen to live in a subdivision adjacent to the highway, and have for many years prior to the commencement of plans to “improve” it. The quality of my life, and that of my neighbors, would be horribly impacted by the huge increase in noise and air pollution which this project would bring.

If you think that is of no concern, just imagine a busy four-lane highway in front of your home.

Now, remember the Golden Rule?
