Regan: Don’t spike the football just yet, Senator Udall

Re: “Lake Hill housing bill heads to White House for signature,” by Joe Moylan, July 11:

The Lake Hill Administrative Site Affordable Housing Act is long overdue and appears to be great news for the people of Summit County, especially those who work so hard to make this community great but can’t afford to live here. However, contrary to the tone of the article, I do not see this as a tremendous legislative accomplishment by Sens. Udall and Bennet and U.S. Rep. Polis. The House of Representatives unanimously passed the legislation. The Senate unanimously passed the legislation. Three squirrels probably could have gotten this legislation passed.

Perhaps I am wrong and this was indeed a major accomplishment by Udall, Bennet and Polis. Hopefully, they can also use their magic touch to accomplish something meaningful regarding the U.S. national debt of $17.5 trillion ($17,593,609,842,545) or the IRS scandal or the Obamacare shortcomings or Benghazi or the VA scandal … I’ll stop there because I understand that letters with fewer than 300 words stand a better chance of running in the Summit Daily and I could probably go on for days about the problems which Udall, Bennet and Polis have failed to solve.
