Schultz: Preserve Summit County wilderness (letter)

I recently hiked the Acorn Creek area proposed for inclusion in the Continental Divide Wilderness legislation proposed by Congressmen Bennet and Polis. After seeing this incredible area, it becomes apparent why we need to preserve this area. It reminds me what a privilege it is to live in Summit County near our astounding wilderness areas that we are able to enjoy.

This legislation would not just mean more opportunities for outdoor recreation. I frequently hike trails in Summit County and ask hikers where they come from. More than half are visitors from outside the county and come specifically to enjoy our vast variety of trails and wilderness areas, which are a great boost to our small businesses and economy.

This legislation will be a blessing for our county. Please support it.
