Summit County firefighters rescue cat from lodgepole pine (letter)

I’d like to send out a big thank you to Lake Dillon Fire Rescue.

Our indoor cat snuck out of the house two nights ago. He climbed a 30 foot lodgepole pine tree and clung on to the top branches of the tree. He cried up there for 30 hours. We tried coaxing him down with food, shaking him out of the tree and climbing our 20 foot ladder (still 10 feet out of reach). The firemen came to the rescue. Jonathan Hannum climbed a 30 foot ladder to save him. He was assisted by his peers Taylor Reifschneider, Kyle Iseminger and Rob Swier. I had googled ways to get your cat down from tree. They all said don’t call the fire department. They won’t help. Well, our fire fighters did. I am so fortunate to be living in such a tight-nit and loving community.
