Taylor: Support Kathy Goudy in CMC trustee election (letter)
I’m writing to recommend that voters in the current election cast their ballots for incumbent Kathy Goudy for the one contested seat on the Colorado Mountain College Board of Trustees. I have served with Ms. Goudy the last four years on the CMC Board. An attorney from Garfield County, Ms. Goudy has been a highly valuable member of the board, proving herself always articulate, reasonable, and, especially, compassionate about the needs of students.
Working with other trustees, she was successful in bringing to the college a new and energetic administration, a complete and badly needed rewrite of policy, and a comprehensive strategic plan. Always Ms. Goudy has spoken up to remind the board that, given the college funding structure (which as a district relies heavily on local property tax), we should be mindful to invest in lifelong learning programs aimed at citizens already funding the college. Also, she has consistently advocated restraint about raising tuition. It would be a shame for CMC if Ms. Goudy were not returned to the board. Continuing for another term, she will certainly work to see to fruition many of the improvements which she has helped design and put in place. Thank you.
