Town officials urge Ruby Placer support (letter)
On September 15, the town of Blue River will vote in a special election on whether to annex the Ruby Placer development into the town. After public open forums over the last 14 months about this annexation, at the July board of trustee’s meeting, we voted for a resolution that supports Ruby Placer being annexed into the town. We feel this development will enhance our community on many levels and will not only benefit homeowners who live in Ruby Placer, but also the entire town. These benefits provided by the owners include:
1. Building a community center for the town;
2. Constructing a bus shelter;
3. Building a community playground and field;
4. Public trails built and maintained by Ruby Placer;
5. 2.84 acres of public open space dedicated to the town; and, Ruby Placer will generate upon build out, about $100,000 in revenue including a private transfer tax
In addition to these benefits, the Ruby Placer development will be responsible for their own road maintenance and snow removal; the town will not be responsible for the additional burden.
What we have laid out are the benefits for our community. Before voting, we encourage all residents to listen to the facts, rather than any distortions or deceptive information about the Ruby Placer annexation.
By supporting the annexation, residents of Blue River and our community as a whole will be the real winners on September 16.
