Thumbs up/thumbs down

Thumbs Up:To The Dillon Marina for hosting another “Let’s Go Sailing” event to benefit the League for Animals & People of the Summit (L.A.P.S.) on Father’s Day weekend. From the top dog and employees down to the private boat owners who donated their time and expertise to make it a fun event that raised money for the less fortunate animals in Summit County.L.A.P.S. also had a rummage sale on June 22 that was a huge fund raiser. Way to go Summit County residents.—Thumbs down:To Gov. Bill Owens for cutting $2.3 million to the state’s libraries, which will make it difficult, if not impossible for Summit County libraries to borrow materials from Denver public libraries.—Thumbs down:Gretchen sent us this thumbs down: “To the person driving the Rotary Club’s corvette Thursday morning, June 13, both for smoking in the car and for flicking the ashes out the window.”Corvettes are only cool when the ashes stay inside the vehicle.—Thumbs up:To the town of Dillon for thinking ahead and making plans for a worst case scenario during the drought. The town is considering penalties for a mandatory water restriction ordinance.
