Andrew Maciejewski

Andrew Maciejewski became editor of Summit Daily News on March 7, 2022. In his role, he supports and manages the newsroom’s staff and products, including its website, magazines and digital platform. A graduate of Indiana University’s Media School with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, Andrew brings four years of editing experience to his new role. His concentration in college was news writing and editing.

As Executive Editor of Central Indiana News Group for 2.5 years, Andrew led a team of 18 reporters and editors across a five-county region in Indiana, including the (Marion) Chronicle-Tribune, (Wabash) Plain Dealer, (Huntington) Herald-Press, (Peru) Tribune and (Frankfort) Times. During his tenure, his editorial team won multiple Indiana Associated Press Media Awards and Hoosier Press Association awards for feature writing, photography, headline writing and sports coverage, including a special publication titled Hearts for health care, which featured a behind the scenes look at the hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. Under his leadership, the newsroom navigated the pandemic and underwent a website redesign, content management system change and company structure adjustment to focus on hyper-local news before his departure in February 2022 to take the position at Summit Daily News.

Andrew started his career in 2018 at the Plain Dealer in Wabash, Indiana as a reporter covering courts, education, city and county government, arts and entertainment, environment and business. His reporting focuses on using data to replace the use of adjectives, allowing readers to make decisions based on a variety of viewpoints and facts presented. His passion for journalism lies in government accountability, municipal finance and tax-payer funded project oversight.

He later became editor of the Herald-Press in June 2018 and held the position for two years before accepting his role as executive editor for Paxton Media Group’s north central region.

As a longtime Hoosier, Andrew enjoys basketball, running and spending time exploring outdoors when he’s not reading.
