As the Rocky Mountain Division mogul championships wrapped up in Winter Park last weekend, five Summit County skiers made sure their seasons didn’t.

With impressive performances in their respective age divisions, Dylan Walczyk, Bruce Perry Jr., Colin Long, Alisha Scheifley and Kaitlyn Harrell all earned spots on the RMD Junior Olympic Team, which will compete in Waterville Valley, N.H., next week.

All five skiers are members of Team Breckenridge Sports Club.

For Walczyk, this marks the fourth straight year that he will represent his region in the Junior Olympics. Walczyk finished fourth at Winter Park in a closely contested J2 competition last weekend and has been a regular podium finisher for his age group all season. In his first Junior Olympics appearance two years ago, Walczyk won the J3 men’s gold medal.

Perry Jr. punched his ticket to the Junior Olympics by winning the RMD J3 competition for the second straight season. The finish also marked the ninth straight weekend that Perry Jr. has finished in the top-3 in the series.

Perry Jr., who’s sponsored by Vokl, Tecnica and Marker, looks to be one of the favorites in his age group next week, as he’s the defending bronze medalist in the division. He also won a silver medal in 2008.

Both Scheifley and Harrell won titles last weekend in Winter Park and will both be favorites in their respective divisions when the Junior Olympic competition kicks off.

Scheifley is making her fourth appearance on the RMD team and has been a high finisher all season in the J2 category.

Harrell, meanwhile, could come away with a gold medal next week in J4. The Denver native posted the third fastest time in the Winter-Park competition, despite being one of the younger competitors.

Lang is making his first appearance on the RMD team after moving to Summit County from New York this year.

The Junior Olympics mogul competitions start March 12, with dual moguls taking place on the 14th. All the competitions will be held on the ski resort’s challenging True Grit mogul run.

Also competing for Team Breckenridge in last week’s RMD championships were Alex DeBonville (ninth in J3), Sean Scanlan (seventh in J1), Bryce Swahney (13th in J3), Gabe Johnson (15th in J3) and Lindsey Eckhoff (second in women’s J4).

The team is coached by John Dowling and Riley Campbell.
