Anderson dominates 3200

ENGLEWOOD – Whitney Anderson showed her state championship form in Summit High’s inaugural track and field meet of the season on Saturday at the Mile High Coldweather Classic in Englewood.

Running 3,200 meters in 12 minutes, 4.40 seconds, Anderson set a course record and beat the next competitor by more than 36 seconds.

Whitney, who has skied for Team Summit since 1996, spent last year in Alaska where she won the state championship in cross country.

Mike Holloway posted the best result for the boys, hurling the discus 120 feet, 11 inches, which was the second best of the day.

Whitney’s sister, Sierra, also had a top-10 finish, finishing the 1600-meter run in 6:10.38, good for sixth.

The Tigers’ Betsy Jason ran the 100-meter dash in 14.10 for seventh place, while the girls 800-meter medley relay finished strong for third place with a time of 2:10.82.

Brianna Anderson, Catherine Clark, Lauren Turner, Madeleine Child, Erin Gray, Kelsey Prim, Kit Westhoff, Ben Holland, Bob Koch, Charles Koenig, Logan Sharp, and Tyler Swirka also competed for the Tigers.
