Arapahoe Basin Ski Area will begin spinning its Lenawee Mountain lift in time for Saturday skiing.

The opening will mean A-Basin will now have two chairlifts servicing skiers and riders, including one that will provide access to top-to-bottom skiing.

The high-alpine Lenawee Face and Dercum’s Gulch intermediate runs will be open beginning Saturday, though A-Basin COO Alan Henceroth teased more openings may soon be on the way.

“There may be a few more surprises to go along with those trails,” Henceroth said on his blog. “The snowmaking and grooming process has been going extremely well. There will be loads of fun to be had.”

Through Thursday afternoon, A-Basin had four runs open off of its lower-mountain Black Mountain Express lift: intermediate High Noon and Ramrod and beginner Sundance and Upper Chisholm Trail.

Over at A-Basin’s Continental Divide neighbor, Loveland Ski Area, Loveland had three beginner runs (Catwalk, Mambo and Home Run), six intermediate (Lower Richards Run, Spillway, Tempest, Upper Richards Run, Waterfall and Nix Nox) and two advanced runs (Cat’s Meow and Tiger’s Tail) open off of its new Chet’s Dream lift.
