Avs right winger Hejduk out at least four weeks after surgery

DENVER – Colorado Avalanche leading scorer the past two seasons Milan Hejduk will be out for at least four weeks after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery, the team announced Tuesday.Hejduk, 29, had not skated since Friday’s intrasquad game.”After further examination, the procedure was necessary in order to eliminate the pain he was experiencing in his knee,” said team athletic trainer Matt Sokolowski. “The procedure went really well and a full recovery is expected.”During the NHL lockout, Hejduk underwent athroscopic surgery on his right knee after injuring it while playing for Pardubice of the Czech League, where he scored 25 goals in 48 games.Hejduk led Avs and the NHL in scoring with 50 goals in 2002-03, and led his team with 35 goals in 2003-04.
