Beaver Creek shifted into high gear Sat, Dec. 14 when Grouse Mountain, Larkspur Bowl and Arrowhead opened to skiers and snowboarders.

The new terrain brought Beaver Creek’s early season total to 1,406 acres, or 77 percent of the mountain, with access provided by 23 of 25 lifts. Saturday also marked the beginning of earlier operating hours. Lifts started spinning at 8:30 a.m. and will continue to do so through the end of the season.

“Our teams at Beaver Creek have done a remarkable job of preparing the mountain and our facilities as quickly as possible capitalizing on great early season snowfall and snowmaking conditions,” said Beaver Creek Resort CEO Doug Lovell in a news release. “Thoughtful planning and a desire to offer the ultimate ski vacation experience to our guests is always our number one goal.”

All on-mountain restaurants will be opened Saturday for the season, including the grand opening of the Talons Restaurant, as well as Broken Arrow at Arrowhead. Terrain park enthusiasts can visit Park 101, which has 19 beginner features including jumps, boxes and rails. Nordic and snowshoe adventurers now have 25 kilometers of dedicated trails to explore in McCoy Park.

Beaver Creek’s Ivy League Ski School is offering private and group lessons for adults and kids including their specialty signature programs.
