BGC wraps up summer competitions

BRECKENRIDGE – In its final official competition of the season, the Men’s Club of the Breckenridge Golf Club competed in a Better Ball of Partners event this week. In the Better Ball format two players teamed up with the best net ball on each hole being scored. This event was also the last chance to earn points for the Men’s Player of the Year.The team of Tom Bauder and Paul Krause won the Men’s Club finale with a net score of 55. Two teams tied for second: Wayne Trudeau/Mike Moran and Charlie Simpson/Don Dettmering both finished one shot back of the winners, at 56. In fourth place was Matt Stais and Bryan Scottwilliams.Club champ Pete Hanigan won the season-long competition for Player of the Year; he was followed by Don Dettmering and Keith Feldmann.The Ladies Club also played a Better Ball of Partners competition this week. Two teams tied for first: Cathy Boland/Sue Miller and Laura Kerl/Linda Davis both shot net 52s. The third-place team of Sue McPhearson/Jane Hardy fired a net 56.In other news, BGC tee times are currently being taken for “A Day of golf for Jack Pendleton.” Pendleton was the superintendent of the Breck Golf Club for a number of years, and has been diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor. The tournament will be played on Wednesday, Sept. 29.
