Breck rec offering unique swim class

summit daily news
Summit County, Colorado

For any triathlete in Summit County, the running and biking stages can be fairly simple to train for. After all, the area has some incredible trails to help one push through the pain.

The swimming is a little tougher, but now, the Breckenridge Recreation Center is looking to help out.

The rec center will offer an Adult Swim and Triathlon Training course Tuesday through Thursday in its lap pool.

The instructor for the 4-and-a-half hour (from 7-8:30 a.m. each day) is Breck resident Jaime Brede. Beyond being a regular top finisher in the local fat tire series (the Summit Mountain Challenge), Brede is an experienced endurance athlete, having won last year’s amateur Xterra Triathlon National Championships title.

The course, said the center’s aquatic coordinator Scott Haden via e-mail, is designed to help those “looking to improve their swim stroke and endurance.”

The cost is $45 for nonmembers.

For more information or to sign up, contact Haden at (970) 547-4338 or drop by the rec center.
