Copper Freeride series kicks off this weekend

The second annual Copper Mountain Freeride Series begins today with a skier and snowboarder halfpipe competition. The event spans this weekend and next and includes a skier and boarder slopestyle (Sunday), a skiercross April 20 and a boardercross April 21.

The cost is $30 for the pipe and slopestyle and $35 for the skier and boardercross. All ages and abilities are welcome to compete. Cash and prizes will be awarded to the winners. On April 20-21, the competitions will coincide with Sunsation – a party that features music from Maceo Parker, Rebirth Brass Band, Yo Flaco and others. Registration takes place from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. the day of the event at Jack’s Slopeside Grill. All contests start at 10 a.m.

Breck’s Bump Buffet set for Sunday

Sunday will mark the 23rd anniversary of the Bump Buffet at Breckenridge. The event combines talent and spirit as telemark skiers tackle the bumps in zany costumes. The skiing starts at 11 a.m. on the High Anxiety trial on Peak 8.
