Copper Scooter Olympics today

Copper Mountain’s January session of its seasonal youth camp, Scooters, wraps up this weekend with a new and unique event – the Scooter Olympics.

The inaugural event takes place today and Sunday with snowboarding and skiing races taking place on a boardercross-style track on Upper Roundabout under the Lumberjack Lift.

The day is meant as a “celebration” of the kids’ advances in their riding over the three-week camp and is intended as a light-hearted, enjoyable day.

Although, awards will be handed out at a 2 p.m. ceremony.

Scooters camps are designed with the intent to get kids an opportunity to log mileage on their skis or boards in a fun and safe supervised environment. Instructors for the camp work with kids – ages 5-13 – on fundamentals such as awareness, balance and various movement techniques.

The program also runs throughout February. For more information, including rates and dates, visit
