Despite solid season, Plummer not looking for Pro Bowl nod

DENVER – With Pro Bowl selections set to be announced Wednesday, Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer says he won’t be surprised to not have his name called. “It is tough,” Plummer said Tuesday. “There are some great quarterbacks in the league and the guys that make it are big-time guys.” Favored to make it this year are Peyton Manning, Carson Palmer and Tom Brady. All are ranked ahead of Plummer, who is having a career year himself, with 18 touchdown passes, six interceptions and 3,007 yards passing. “I don’t look too hard at awards like that,” he said. “As a player you would love to go, but it doesn’t mean anything as far as what I am doing for the team.” Safety John Lynch and cornerback Champ Bailey are among the Broncos with the best chance of being selected. Neither Lynch, a six-time selection or Bailey, a five-time Pro Bowl participant who received the second-most fan votes among defensive players, wanted to make much of their Pro Bowl hopes. “Oh, yeah, hopefully, I’ll be one of the guys those guys they name,” Bailey said. “We play for each other,” Lynch said. “It’s an honor, but it will mean more to finish 8-0 at home and wrap up the division on Saturday.”
