Summit High head coach Kristen Elliott said Tuesday’s game was a “good reminder” of what her Tiger girls’ lacrosse squad needs to do to beat good teams.

In other words, the Tigers need to not play like they did in their 17-4 loss at Colorado Academy.

“They were a good team, and games like these happen once in a while,” Elliott said. “We couldn’t pass upfield and, defensively, we just broke down.”

Senior Bri Barto scored two goals in the loss for the Tigers, while fellow seniors Michelle Warpecha and Jaclin Limone added the other two tallies.

Freshman Chelsea Christianson was between the pipes for Summit, and Elliott said her team’s defense left the rookie goalkeeper facing a lot of difficult one-on-one shots.

“It was a bummer, because we’ve been playing really well defensively lately,” the coach said. ” … We just need to work on taking care of the ball with these competitive teams.”

The Tigers (5-2, 3-0) are right back in action Thursday when they travel to take on Evergreen at 4 p.m.
