FARMER’S KORNER ” Justin Green was one of the bright spots in an otherwise dim season for the Summit High School baseball team, and he did the most damage against Jeffco League opponents.

That’s likely one of the reasons Green caught the eye of the league’s rival coaches, who voted Green second team all-Jeffco after the season.

The senior pitcher/first baseman was the only Tiger named to either the first or second all-league teams. He hit .308 for the Tigers while leading the squad in hits (12), RBIs (10) and doubles (five).

“The thing that stands out is he stepped up offensively,” said Gary Green, one of Summit’s co-head coaches and also Justin’s father. “He hit over .450 in conference play. That’s when he drove in a majority of his runs and had most of his hits.”

Green, a 6-foot-4 righthander, also served as one of the top starting pitchers for the Tigers, who finished 1-14 for their second straight 1-win season. He hit sixth in Summit’s order for most of the season.

A pair of Summit players received all-league honorable mention: Addem Goodell and Jordan Sitkoski. Goodell, a senior utility infielder, hit .306; while Sitkoski, a sophomore third baseman/pitcher, hit .333 and led the team in slugging (.472).

SHS senior Elliot Cochran received the Sean Bennett Hustle Award for the second straight year, and shortstop Sean Linfield was named the team’s Gold Glove Defensive Player of the Year.
