With some key players out of the line up due to health issues, the Summit High gymnastics team still put on a gritty performance at their Jeffco League tri-meet at Evergreen High School, Tuesday.

Senior Chelsea Rybak earned an all-around score of 32, qualifying her for the state meet, and the Tigers finished third with a team score of 155.975.

Despite having their first set back of the season (Summit had improved on their team score in every meet this season), Tigers head coach Lauren Wright was encouraged with the way some of her regular junior varsity gymnasts performed at the varsity level.

” … We had some girls really step up for us,” she said. “It is good to see that we have good underclassman that can perform.”

Gabi Ketzenbarger was one gymnast that Wright said had a standout performance, earning a 30.15 in the all around.

Rachel Lawlis and Lindsay Erickson also performed well in their relief appearances. Lawlis performed a solid floor routine, Wright said, and Erickson had a “phenomenal” bar routine.

“It was great the way they stepped up,” Wright said.

Senior Meigan Canfield missed qualifying individually for the state meet by a mere tenth of a point.

“She was a little disappointed,” Wright said. “It will be no problem, though, for her to get those extra little points that she needs.”

The Tigers have a long break before they have the Jeffco League final on Oct. 18.
