Harris medals again at J3 Jr. Olympics

Just one day after claiming a gold medal in giant slalom at the Rocky/Central J3 Junior Olympic Championships in Aspen, Summit skier Katy Harris continued her impressive week with a silver medal in slalom.

The Team Breckenridge skier had the second-fastest time on each run and finished with a 1 minute, 33.59 second total, less than 2 seconds out of first place.

Harris hasn’t finish out of the top-10 in a single race at the competition.

Team Summit’s Anne Parker continued her solid skiing with a 10th-place finish.

Danielle Moulton was 21st, Eleanor Brown-Wolf was 26th, and Ciara Morrison finished 30th.

Team Breck skier Kaitlynn Sockett, the downhill silver medalist on Tuesday, didn’t finish her second run.

On the boys’ side, Patrick Gruber led the local contingent once again, finishing 9th with a time of 1:31.78.

John Moore finished in 45th.

The slalom races wrapped up a week of competition in which the best 13-14 year olds in the region competed in downhill, super-G, GS and slalom.

Harris’ win in Friday’s GS earned her a spot in the prestigious Whistler Cup later this month.
