After helping the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team to three medals in moguls at the Winter Games, Breckenridge’s Scott Rawles is coming back home.

To honor the longtime local, friends and family are holding a welcome-home party for Rawles Thursday night at Fatty’s Pizzeria in Breck. The party is slated to run from 5-8 p.m. with some light snacks and a cash bar available to those who attend.

Rawles has been a coach with the U.S. team since 2000 after a few years working with Team Breckenridge Sports Club. He’s been the head coach for the U.S. moguls program since 2006.

Three of his athletes earned podium finishes at the Games in Vancouver.

On Feb. 13, Vermont’s Hannah Kearney took home the gold medal in women’s moguls after an impressive final run helped her edge out Canadian favorite Jennifer Heil. Californian Shannon Bahrke earned bronze.

On the men’ side of the competition, Montana’s Bryon Wilson won bronze behind gold-medalist Alexandre Bilodeau of Canada and Australia’s Dale Begg-Smith, who took home the silver.
