Improving gymnasts second again

FARMER’S KORNER – Like in its last home meet, the Summit High School gymnastics team finished between the Class 5A power and the 4A rival.

As a team, the Tigers placed second behind Green Mountain at SHS Thursday and ahead of Conifer. Summit improved on its team score from the week before with a 157.125.

Summit’s Katie Lindbloom, Claudia Bouvier and Kendra Huenneke all had state-qualifying scores in the balance beam. Bouvier’s 8.55 was good enough for fourth at the meet. Lindbloom qualified for state in the all-around, placing sixth with a score of 32.325. Lindbloom also led the Tigers in the vault with an 8.35, good enough for sixth place. Erin Young was right on her heels in the event, placing seventh with an 8.30.

Amelia Meier was tops for Summit on the bars in sixth place with a score of 7.95. Lindbloom was next with a 7.85. Young was the only Tiger to break 8 on the floor. She placed sixth with a score of 8.1. The Tigers were second as a team in all events behind the Rams and in front of the Lobos. They will be on the road for the first time this year when they travel to Standley Lake today for a tri meet beginning at 10 a.m. with Standley and Bear Creek.
