Infante leads soccer team to win

The Summit High School boys soccer team outplayed Alameda Wednesday and finally got something to show for it in a 2-1 win.

The Tigers trailed 1-0 at the half despite outshooting the Pirates 13-2. It was 27-3 in shots by game’s end, according to Tigers coach Peter Shafroth.

Quetzal Infante set up Summit’s first goal to Guilherme Esteves then scored the game-winner unassisted.

“It was total domination but a little scary because it took us a while to get those goals in,” Shafroth said.

Summit (3-6-1 overall, 1-1-1 in the Class 4A Jeffco League) returns to Tiger Field Saturday for its homecoming game against D’Evelyn. Gametime is 11 a.m.

Softballers turn it around

The Summit High softball team snapped a four-game losing streak by beating D’Evelyn Tuesday in Jefferson County.

Amy Clark hit a three-run triple to ice the game in the seventh inning. The hit was set up by a key bunt from Cissy Daniels.

“They are just getting confident with the level of competition we’re up against,” coach Shelly Koehler said of her team. “I’m excited about the progress and what the next few weeks will bring.”

Summit hosts its homecoming game today at Blue River Park in Silverthorne against Evergreen. First pitch is 4:15 p.m.
