Keeling garners all-state honorable mention
BRECKENRIDGE – Senior defenseman Jimmy Keeling received honorable mention all-state honors as announced by the Colorado High School Activities Association on Wednesday, giving the Summit High School hockey team all-state representation for the second straight year.Keeling, who also was selected to play in the Senior All-Star game on March 10 in Colorado Springs, captained the Tigers as they advanced to the state quarterfinals for the second time in as many seasons.
“His work ethic, his attitude, his leadership skills – when I envision a perfect captain, he is it,” SHS coach Bryan Smith said.”He works harder than any kid I’ve ever coached.”
Keeling scored four goals this year to go along with six assists. According to Smith, however, point totals are incapable of representing Keeling’s value to a team. The coach chose a different stat – only four penalty minutes – to illustrate his senior’s importance.
“If I ever reproduce, they better be like Jimmy Keeling,” Smith said.Devon O’Neil can be contacted at (970) 668-4633, or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
