Girdwood, Alaska – Chris Burandt of Kremmling didn’t find any Easter eggs at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood, but with the $5,000 prize he received for winning the 2006 Red Bull Fuel + Fury jam session, he’s probably not too upset.

Riding on a sprawling natural terrain course in front of an enthusiastic crowd on Mount Alyeska, Burandt threw down two solid runs, highlighted by his trademark big airs. When the powder settled in the late afternoon, snocross star Levi Lavallee, Zach Kirk of HMK and Burandt’s fellow Fuel + Fury competitors named “Big Air” Burandt the jam session winner.

“We went out with a bang,” said Burandt, who also captured the 2005 Red Bull Fuel + Fury in Milwaukee. “No matter how I do in the overall competition, I had fun and took the Fuel + Fury jam session crown.”

The overall Fuel + Fury competition involves 16 rider/videographer teams shooting and producing two- to four-minute Alaskan backcountry freeriding videos. The segments were digitized and posted online early Saturday morning at, for the public to view and vote on all day long, until midnight, Alaska time, at which time the competition winner was named.
