A pair of local skiers earned All-America honors in last week’s NCAA Ski Championships in Steamboat Springs.

Recent Summit High graduates Katie Hartman and Tyler Reinking both earned top-10 finishes in their respective races at the competitions, held Wednesday through Saturday.

Hartman, a junior alpine racer for the University of Colorado, was third in the giant slalom in the championships’ first event on Wednesday. She finished her two runs with a combined time of 1:55.86, a little more than a second out of first place. The finish was tops for Hartman’s CU team.

She also finished seventh place in the slalom.

Hartman’s impressive skiing helped CU to a second-place overall finish in the competition behind the University of Denver and earned her both first-team All-America in the GS and second team in the slalom. She was also named CU’s female athlete of the week.

Meanwhile, Reinking, a sophomore Nordic skier at Montana State University, was sixth in the 20k freestyle race on Saturday. He finished the grueling course in 49 minutes and 31 seconds, only 12 seconds behind the race’s winner. He also was 35th in the 10k classic race held on Thursday.

Reinking’s MSU squad wound up eighth overall in the team standings.
