Just a day after racking up strong finishes in downhill, Team Breckenridge skiers Kaitlynn Sockett and Katy Harris both finished well in Wednesday’s super-G race at the Rocky/Central J3 Junior Olympic Championships at Aspen’s Buttermilk Mountain.

Sockett, who won silver in dowhnill, finished just off the podium in fourth place. Her time of 1 minute, 17.33 seconds was only 0.14 seconds out of first place and just 0.02 from claiming the bronze medal.

Harris finished less than a second behind her teammate, coming in seventh place.

Team Summit’s Anne Parker came in 16th.

Ciara Morrison (26th), Danielle Moulton (36th) and Eleanor Brown-Wolf (58th) wrapped up the local contingent.

Meanwhile, Team Breck’s Patrick Gruber continued his stellar skiing this week, finishing 10th in super-G on Wednesday and coming in 12th Thursday in giant slalom.

In both races, Aspen skiers dominated the boys’ standings. They took up the first six spots in super-G and swept the podium in GS.

Henry Maloney of Team Summit finished 16th in the super-G and local John Moore was 41st.

The competition, which features the best skiers in the region ages 13-14, continues today with girls’ GS.
