FARMER’S KORNER ” Five Summit High School girls soccer players were recognized by Jeffco League coaches for their competitive play this season.

SHS senior Shelley Mauch was named first team all-league for the second year in a row, while senior Tiffany Novak, junior Courtney Wade and sophomore Emily George made the second team. Junior Amelia Meier was given honorable mention.

“I was pretty psyched,” Summit coach Dirk Parmley. “With our record in the conference, I didn’t expect that many, but the girls definitely deserved it.”

The Tigers went 5-8 (4-5 in Jeffco play) on the season and fell short of the playoffs.

Each Jeffco team’s coaches nominate players for the postseason awards. All of the coaches then vote for who they think deserves the recognition. Parmley said the process works well.

“You take notes on who stood out for the other teams,” Parmley said. “And generally speaking, the ones that you noticed were also noticed by the other coaches.”
