McGahey father and son state soccer championships
The local father and son team of Kim and Conor McGahey were selected from 400 high school soccer referees statewide by the Colorado High School Activities Association (CHSAA) to referee the 3A and 5A girls state championship games in Englewood this week. Kim McGahey reffed the 3A final game on Saturday at Pirate Stadium, in which top-ranked Faith Christian defeated No. 3 St. Mary’s of Colorado Springs. On Tuesday night, Conor McGahey was the center referee for the 5A Championship game which Grandview defeated Heritage 3-2. The McGaheys have been refereeing high school and youth soccer at the highest levels locally and nationally. Both McGaheys hail from Breckenridge with Conor now residing in Denver.
