DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT

Local father-son duo Kim and Conor McGahey have been selected by the Colorado High School Activities Association from over 300 varsity soccer referees statewide to officiate the boys’ state playoffs in Denver this week.

Conor will be the center referee of the 4A semifinal at 11 a.m. Saturday at Englewood High School between No. 2 seed Air Academy and No. 11 Mullen.

Kim will center the 3A championship game at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City.

The McGaheys have been active in Colorado soccer over the years as players, referees, club founders of the Breckenridge Soccer Club and Summit Strikers and are currently board members for numerous state organizations including the High School Soccer Officials, Colorado State Soccer Association and Colorado Joint Referee Committee.

The two both served as officials in playoff games the past few years, each reffing a championship game in 2009.
