Noordewier, Morgan are BGC champs


The Breckenridge Golf Club Men’s and Women’s Clubs completed the second round of their Championship competition last week and crowned their club champions for the 2007 season.Leading the charge, Krista Morgan captured the Women’s Club Championship Flight crown for the 13th time with a two-round total of 160. Tying for second were Christina DeLuca and Darby Hartman.Winning the Championship Flight of the Men’s Club was Ed Noordewier, who carded a two-round total of 158. Ken Colvin followed close behind with a total of 161.The Men’s Club senior champ and winner of the Vern Johnson Cup was Jim Manwaring, who carded a 157 for the two-week competition. Capturing second was Dick Heend with a 164.Taking first place in the First Flight of the Men’s Club was Mike Marshall (166); Tom Bauder took second with a 170 total.In a close competition in the Men’s Club Second Flight, Chris Belby (178) took first by two strokes over Tom Eble.Wayne McLaren won the Men’s Club Third Flight with a two-round total of 175, while Dick Bauder finished second.Mike Roschak won the Fourth Flight with a net 132 and Ben Henson took second with a net 143.Capturing first place in the Women’s Club First Flight with a two-round total of 181 was Libby Richey. Sue McPhearson finished in second with a 202 total.Linda Davis won the Second Flight of the Women’s Club with a 198, and Michaelle Cameron was four strokes behind. The Women’s Club Third Flight winner was Lilly Howard (230); Barb Gain finished second just one stroke behind.On Sunday, July 15, the BGC conducted a Mixed Team nine-hole event where the men played from the forward tees using a restricted flight Cayman Ball. Winning the event with a team score of 76 were Bevan and Jane Hardy. Tying for second were the teams of Frances and Patrick McWilliams along with Larry Rowley and Cyndi Tanaka.On Thursday, July 26, the BGC will be conducting its Junior Club Championship, which is open to Breckenridge Golf Club Junior Pass holders.
