Perkins sisters take first, third in Eldora

ELDORA – The Perkins sister act continues to dominate high school Nordic events.Junior Brittany finished first while her younger sister Briana, a freshman, took third Saturday at Lake Eldora in a high school 5K skate race. The girls team finished first overall with 172 points, 15 better than second-place Middle Park. The boys also won, using 163 points to beat Lake County by just two.”(Brittany and Briana) actually weren’t really trying,” Summit coach Tom Sain said. “We’ve been racing so much lately, we told the team to pull it back a little to get rested up.”The Perkins are building toward a showdown at the state meet at the Gold Run Nordic Center later this month. “They have a very healthy sibling rivalry going,” Sain said. “It’s going to be a great head-to-head matchup.”Freshman Mackenzie Jones finished seventh for the Tigers, while sophomore Leah Venturoni took 12th and Ali Kreamelmyer crossed the finish line 15th. On the boys side, Tyler Reinking was the top Summit finisher, placing fifth. Sophomore Marshall Snead (seventh), senior Isaac Phillips (eighth), freshman Alan Harrington (14th) and junior Matt Bowers (18th) also had successful races Saturday.
