Red Mountain Rock Gym hosts Tour de Front comp

The largest event in the Summit Series Bouldering Competition takes place tonight from 5-9 p.m. at the Red Mountain Rock Gym in Silverthorne behind Sears. The event is doubling as a stop on the American Bouldering Series (ABS) Tour de Front. The Tour de Front is an eight-event series which visits climbing gyms throughout the Front Range. Tonight’s competition is the series’ only stop in the mountains.According to event organizer Mike Wolfson, tonight’s event will feature a live DJ and a larger raffle than the rest of the events in the Summit Series. Food and beverages will also be provided by Wild Bill’s Pizza Saloon and O’Dells Brewing Company. “It’s generally quite a bit bigger,” Wolfson said. “We’re expecting up to 90 competitors for this one.” The competition is open to climbers of all ages and abilities, and runs $20 for members of Red Mountain Rock Gym or the Breckenridge Recreation Center and $25 for all others. Membership in the ABS is required, and one-day memberships will be available for an additional $5. For more information, call (970) 468-1248 or visit
