The fourth and final race in the Rando Rise and Shine series, held on an uphill-downhill course at Arapahoe Basin on Jan. 19. The pre-dawn event drew 52 male and female racers from across the state, including Summit, Eagle, Lake and Clear Creek counties, plus the Front Range. Two days of Super-G racing on the challenging Cimarron course at Breckenridge, including a qualifier for the U-14 Junior Championships in Winter Park this March. All U-14 skiers (age 12 or older) who qualified at the Jan. 24 Super-G must finish in the top-50 after the Crested Butte Prater Cup (Feb. 18-21) to earn a spot at the Junior Championships. Two days of giant slalom racing with the Colorado Youth Ski League, hosted at Copper Mountain on Jan. 24. The two days drew more than 200 youth skiers from five Colorado ski clubs for GS races in five age divisions: U-8 (7 and under), U-10 (8 and 9), U-12 (10 and 11), U-14 (12 and 13), and U-16 (14 and 15).
