Rocky Mtn. G3 Gravity Series kicks off in Summit

KEYSTONE – The Rocky Mountain G3 Gravity Series kicks off at Keystone Resort with downhill and super D races Saturday and a second downhill on Sunday. $10,000 in cash and $20,000 in merchandise is up for grabs. Pros, semi-pros and the new Grand Master 35-plus class will be assigned start times with 60-second intervals and all others may run whenever they want. Beginner, sport and expert riders can wait for a clear course, chase faster riders or just roll with friends. Registration is available today and Saturday at the Green Light Bar in Keystone from 8 a.m. 6 p.m. and Sunday from 8-10 a.m. The super D costs $30, and each downhill will cost between $20-$40 depending on the category. Also, there will be a discount for racers who compete in all three events, according to event organizer Mike McCormack of Bigfoot Productions. “The G3 is about the pure fun of riding with your buddies,” McCormack said. “Except in this case, there’s more than bragging rights at stake. We also want to give regional gravity pros a chance to earn a living, train on World Cup-level courses and eventually compete and win on the world level. For a lot of those athletes the G3 Series and its sizable purse helps keep that dream alive.”The second G3 event of the summer is slated for Aug. 18-19 at Sol Vista Resort and the third series stop will be at World Cup venue Angel Fire, N.M., Oct. 6-7.For more info on the Rocky Mountain G3 Gravity Series, visit or e-mail downhill MTB races at Keystone- Saturday:11:30 a.m. – Downhill No. 15 p.m. – Super D- Sunday: Noon – Downhill
