Romp to Stomp coming back to Frisco

Daily News staff report

The ninth annual Tubbs Romp to Stomp out Breast Cancer snowshoe event is coming back to the Frisco Nordic Center March 5.

And registration is already under way with “early bird” rates wrapping up Wednesday. Available online or through the mail, the early fee is $25.

The event helps to raise awareness for breast cancer and money for the Denver Affiliate of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

The Romp to Stomp includes a 3k snowshoe race at 9 a.m. and a 3k/5k snowshoe walk at 9:30 a.m. Race participants compete for first-place trophies in five categories: men’s, women’s, masters men’s and women’s and breast cancer survivor.

Tubbs snowshoes will provide limited quantities of free demo snowshoes for use on a first-come, first-served basis.

Other activities for the day include a free pancake breakfast sponsored by Wells Fargo, entertainment, sponsor displays, a raffle and survivor tribute. All participants receive a goody bag and a sweepstakes ticket.

There are team prizes for the teams raising the most money and the team with the best costume.

All participants who collect pre-event pledges will receive additional tickets to be entered into drawings for outdoor gear. One grand prize package will be given out to the participant who raises the most in pre-event pledges.
