Ski Cooper to host sixth annual Telefest

Ski Cooper’s sixth annual Telefest kicks off Saturday at the ski area just outside Leadvlille.

The event will include two races, free telemark ski demos and an awards party later in the afternoon.

Early registration is available through today by



e-mailing name, gender and date of birth to jmadx@juno.com. There is also day-of registration from 8-9:30 a.m. in the Ski Cooper Lodge.

The Telefest features a randonee rally race – an uphill, downhill, uphill format similar to those used in top telemark competitions – and a giant slalom race, taking the best of two runs. The randonee is slated for a 10:30 a.m. start on Ski Cooper’s Homestake run, and the GS will be at 1 p.m. on Black Powder.



The awards party, featuring barbecue, takes place from 2-5 on the top floor of the lodge.

Tele demos will be available all day from Sawatch Backcountry, Icelantic, RMU, Ski Logik 4Frnt and G3. There will also be rental equipment available from the Tennessee Pass Nordic Center.
